Las Vegas, NV – Sports Business Classroom, the premier institution in basketball education, is proud to announce a new partnership with Deakin University from Australia, which will see their students attending the immersive program during the NBA Summer League in July 2024. Ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide and #7 globally for sport-related subjects, Deakin University is set to provide its students with unparalleled insights into the business of basketball.
Selected students will participate in Sports Business Classroom’s renowned Business of Basketball Immersive Experience, held in conjunction with the NBA Summer League. This program provides a unique opportunity to explore various facets of the basketball industry, including operations, salary cap management, media and broadcasting, scouting, and analytics. Additionally, participants will benefit from the CBA Mastery Course, an industry-leading resource on the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Albert Hall, Co-Founder of the NBA Summer League and Sports Business Classroom, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are excited to partner with Deakin University to offer this incredible opportunity. Bringing students from the other side of the globe to the NBA Summer League will not only benefit the students but also enrich the sports industry by producing highly skilled professionals.”
Pete Williams, Professor-of-Practice at Deakin Business School, added: “Deakin has been at the forefront of sport management education for over 30 years and is the only Australian university included in the SportBusiness Postgraduate Rankings. The NBL Next Stars program has been a phenomenal success as a player pathway into the NBA, and we see this partnership as the unofficial Next Stars for the Front Office. This is our second year bringing students across, and we’re already doubling the size of our cohort.”
This partnership builds on Sports Business Classroom’s history of successful collaborations, including with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA), and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).
