SBC SPEAKER BIO: MIKE BROWN

Mike Brown begins his fifth season with the Golden State Warriors and 20th as an NBA coach. During his tenure with the Warriors Brown helped the team win back-to-back NBA Championships in 2016-17 and 2017-18. 

Prior to joining the Warriors, Brown was the Head Coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers. In Cleveland, Brown eclipsed Lenny Wilkens’ record for all time regular season and playoff wins with the franchise at 347. Before that Brown spent time as a NBA Analyst (2011-12), was the Head Coach of the Warriors Leading them to a 41-25 record during the shortened season, and he had a five year stint with the Cavaliers (2005-10).

Prior to joining the Cavaliers in 2005, Brown was associate head coach of the Indiana Pacers for two seasons (2003-05) after spending three years as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs (2001-03), where he and Kerr captured an NBA title in the final year of Kerr’s playing career. Brown began his career with the Denver Nuggets in 1992, spending five seasons as a video coordinator.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Brown is a graduate of the University of San Diego, where he played collegiately for two seasons after spending two years at Mesa Community College. In November 2020, Brown coached the Nigeria men’s national basketball team.
