The Sports Business Classroom is excited to announce that VP of Talent Relations at Turner Sports, Tara August, will be featured speaker for the TV, Online and In-Arena Broadcast major at the 2017 Sports Business Classroom (SBC) in Las Vegas. The TV, Online and In Arena Broadcast major is one of four being offered in 2017 as part of the Business of Basketball program.
The curriculum has been curated to give students an in-depth look at the intricacies of different broadcast platforms and the ins and outs of working in broadcast media. Students will also benefit from hands-on experiences designed to serve them in their careers moving forward.
As a featured speaker at the 2017 Sports Business Classroom, August will be a part of an all-star lineup of sports business executives that are teachers and presenters. Last year’s SBC featured NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, Washington Wizards Head Coach Scott Brooks, the Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey, Ned Cohen of the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors GM Masai Ujiri and the Vegas Summer League’s very own Warren LeGarie.
SBC Speaker Bio: Tara August – Vice President of Talent Relations – Turner Sports
At Turner Sports, August’s role is to oversee the management of all on-air sports talent across television platforms TNT, TBS and NBA TV, and its digital platforms, including NBA.com.
One of her notable achievements at Turner was negotiating the renewal contracts for the “Inside the NBA” studio team (Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal) to keep the one-of-a-kind show running for years to come.
Prior to joining at Turner, August worked at Ogilvy Public Relations as an Account Director.
August has her Masters in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco and completed her undergrad degree at San Diego State University.
