Sports Business Classroom is excited to release its 2018 Student Guide, featuring a full description of all curriculum along with information on its leaders and instructors, and other logistical information. The one-of-a-kind program runs Sunday, July 8 through Saturday, July 15 at Thomas & Mack Center during Las Vegas NBA Summer League.
The program is structured to resemble a college curriculum. Students gain a broad foundation from the “GE” sections before taking a deep dive into their chosen majors. The 2018 majors include:
- League Salary Cap
- Scouting, Video and Analytics
- Social Media, Digital Branding and Broadcasting
Sports Business Classroom maximizes learning in a hands-on environment, with content organized into lectures, panels and 1:1 discussions, interactive exercises, and major-specific deep dives. Ample time is provided following every session for Q&As and networking with guests. The student guide will continue to be revised as additional guests are confirmed.
Featured instructors, speakers and guests for 2018 include Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban, Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey, Nike Ambassador George Raveling, former Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho, Award-winning social and digital media strategist Tracy Weissenberg, Spurs VP of Strategic Research Kirk Goldsberry, NBA Digital’s VP of Content Operations Eric Jackson, NBA TV and NBA.com Analyst Sekou Smith, Golden State Warriors Assistant General Manager Kirk Lacob, and Dunc’d On Podcast host Nate Duncan. The program is led by SBC General Manager and salary cap expert Larry Coon.
“Sports Business Classroom is an experience like no other,” said Coon. “We focus on the content and the learning experience, and we take full advantage of our immersion in the Las Vegas Summer League. SBC is not just on site, it’s a part of the action.”
Sports Business Classroom students also receive credentialed access to seven days of the Las Vegas Summer League, six nights hotel accommodations, access to exclusive events, round trip transportation between the hotel and arena each day, lunches and dinners, and exclusive SBC gear.
